Privacy

Rope & Banana is a small app made by one person. This page says plainly what it stores, who can see it, how long it stays, and how to get rid of it.

What we store

• Your account — the email address you sign in with, or the private relay address Apple gives us if you use Hide My Email. We never see your Apple password.
• Your profile — the name and handle you choose.
• Your prints — the photos you post, with their captions, and when you posted them.
• Your crews — which crews you are in, your altitude, and the bananas and ropes you have left this hour.
• Notes and statuses — what you write, and who it was written to.
• Notification settings — your device's push token and time zone, so notifications arrive and stay quiet while you sleep.
• Reports — if you report something, what was reported and when.

What we do not store

• No location. The app never asks for it.
• No contacts. Crews are joined by invite code, not by scanning your address book.
• No analytics or tracking. There is no third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking software in the app. We do not build a profile of you and we do not track you across other apps or websites.
• No payment details. The app is free and has nothing to buy.

Who can see your prints

Only the crews you are in. On the ladder a print shows for the hour you posted it; after that it lives in that crew’s album, where the same crew can still see it. Nothing is public and nothing is searchable. There is no feed of strangers.

Photos are kept in private storage. The app fetches them through short-lived links that are issued only to members of the crew the photo was posted to, and only while the photo is live. If you block someone, the link is not issued in either direction.

How long we keep it

• Prints you keep — for as long as the crew album exists. That the album lasts is the point of the app.
• Prints you delete — the entry disappears from the app immediately, and the image file is deleted from storage shortly after (a scheduled job runs every few minutes).
• Reported prints — hidden immediately, and kept for up to 90 days so repeat behaviour can be dealt with. Then the file is deleted.
• Your account — deleting it removes your profile, prints, notes, statuses and crew memberships, and queues every one of your image files for deletion. It cannot be undone.
• Notification tokens — removed with your account, or when the device stops accepting notifications.

Who we share with

We do not sell your data and we do not share it for advertising. Three services process it on our behalf, and only to make the app work:

• Supabase — the database and image storage.
• Apple — delivers push notifications to your device.
• Resend — sends the sign-in code to your email.

These services run outside Korea, so using the app means your data is stored and processed abroad. We may also disclose data if the law requires it.

How it is protected

• Traffic is encrypted in transit, and the database and storage are encrypted at rest by our provider.
• Photos live in a private bucket. Access is checked per request against crew membership and blocks — not just hidden behind a hard-to-guess address.
• Sign-in is by Apple or a one-time email code. There is no password for us to lose.

No system is perfect. If something goes wrong that affects you, we will tell you.

Your choices

• See or correct it — your profile is editable in the app. For anything else, write to us.
• Delete it — Settings → Delete my account. Individual prints can be deleted one at a time.
• Leave a crew — you stop appearing on that ladder. Prints you already posted stay in that crew’s album unless you delete them.
• Turn off notifications — in the app’s settings, or in iOS Settings.
• Ask us anything — support@ropeandbanana.com. We answer.

Children

Rope & Banana is not intended for anyone under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child under 13 is using the app, write to us and we will remove the account.

Changes

If this page changes in a way that matters, we will say so in the app before it takes effect. The date at the top always shows the current version.
